Zakynthos Class Home Learning – Week Ending 30.01.26

Dear Parent, Carer,

In English this week we started a new topic, Persuasive Speech. The children will be using the books ‘If I Were Prime Minister’ and ‘If I Ran the Country’ as inspiration to generate their own ideas for a persuasive speech. They were introduced to persuasive writing and began exploring key devices, with a focus on rhetorical questions, learning how these questions encourage deeper thinking. They then had an opportunity to try and generate their own rhetorical questions.

In Maths – we continued with ‘Length and Perimeter’. The children focused on Metres, centimetres and millimetres, Equivalent lengths (metres and centimetres), Equivalent lengths (centimetres and millimetres), Compare lengths and Add length.

In RE, the children learnt about the The Holy Three Hierarchs and how each of the Saints contributed to the shaping of the Christian Church. We also looked at how the Church serves people in need.

In PSHE, the children became Superheroes’. We focused on discovering their very own real-life superpowers — the things that they are really good at. We talked about how they don’t need a cape or powers like in films to be a hero. Their real strengths—like being kind, helpful, or brave—are their superpowers. When they use their powers to help others, they can make the world better and will make them feel proud, happy, and strong.

Please find the home learning attached using the link below and we have also included a spelling sheet as extra support.
