Zakynthos Class – Week Ending 11.07.25

This week in Zakynthos class…..

In English, the children focused on planning, editing and publishing their writing task based on  a non-chronological report called ‘ Incredible Job’. They had to include a few features, such as to write the job description of the job, the uniform and the tools needed, the skills needed, and where does the job take place. They had to create a layout of their choice , ensuring that each box contains a feature.

In Maths, we finished the unit ‘Money’ with to subtract money and how to find change. We then started a new unit called ‘Statistic’, where the children first looked at how to interpret a pictogram, to read and interpret information presented in pictograms.  Another lesson was based on ‘Draw pictograms’ were the children had to construct their own pictograms using given data on a range of topics and they had to think carefully about how the data could be presented using a pictogram. They also looked at ‘Draw Bar Charts’, where the children had to use information from tally charts, pictograms and tables to construct bar charts and answered questions.

In Art, the children’s objective was to understand the starting points in a design process, inspired by the Rainforest. They had to create a ‘Mood Board’ by using a series of small drawings of various objects, either from real-life observation or from photographs. They focused on a small part of the object/photo, such as the texture of a fruit skin or the centre of a flower or drew the whole thing, using crayons and other mediums.

There is NO home learning this week.

Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the beautiful hot weather and please keep hydrated.
