Zakynthos Class – Week Ending 12.09.25

Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a new school year! The children have settled well into Year 3 and have shown excitement about the new learning that will take place this school year.

In English this week we have been looking at our narrative unit for the next few weeks called ‘Mini Rabbit Not Lost’. So far, children have focused on the character, setting, used expanded noun phases to describe Mini Rabbit’s home environment and surroundings, wrote  progressive form of verbs to describe Mini Rabbit’s character and sense of determination and urgency to find the berries so his mother can make a cake. They also wrote  a description using their senses to describe a setting.

In Maths, the unit that the children will be focusing on is called ‘Place Value’. This week, the children have looked at ‘Representing numbers to 100, Partitioning numbers to 100, Number line to 100,  Hundreds and Representing numbers to 1,000’.

In RE, our first unit is called ‘We All Need Love’. The children learnt that everyone needs love and that Jesus told us to ‘Love one another’ and their second lesson was about how much God loves us and how God gave us beautiful things to enjoy in this world. They also looked at the story of Adam and Eve, how God forgave them for disobeying Him but yet He still loved them.

In PSHE, the unit for this term is ‘Citizenship’. The children first recapped what they already know about PSHE and they explored children’s rights, using key articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
