Zakynthos Class – Week Ending 23.05.25

This week in Zakynthos Class….

In Maths, we continued with ‘Mass and Capacity’.  The children focused on comparing mass, to add and subtract mass, to measure capacity and volume in millilitres, to measure capacity and volume in litres and millilitres and equivalent capacities and volumes (litres and millilitres).

In Science, the children looked at the relationship and investigated between vibrations and volume and between vibrations, strength and volume.  The children worked in groups of three’s, used an iPad (for the online metronome), a  variety of instruments and a tape measure. They recorded the sound of the instrument played at different metres and measured the volume of the sound in decibels. Another lesson that the children focused on was to describe the pitch and how to change it.  They chose the instrument, used the online metronome and recorded the pitch (high and low) in hertz and then had to write what they had learnt.

In DT, the children designed their own Egyptian collar and used the techniques of cross stitch and running stitch to sew on their collar.
