Zakynthos Class – Week Ending 25.04.25

In Zakynthos Class this week….

In English, our first book for this term is  called ‘ ‘Hermelin the Detective Mouse’. The children started the text with making predictions about the text, we wrote about the main character, wrote book reviews, conducted interviews of the key characters and wrote thank you notes to Hermelin.

In Maths, the children started the Unit Shape. They explored turns and angles, right angles, compared angles and measured lines. They also had the opportunity to use a ruler correctly to draw and measure straight lines.

in RE, our Unit for this term is called ‘We All Need Love’.  The children first discussed something that you cannot see with your eyes, nor touch with your hands, being kind or showing kindness. We looked at a few pictures and talked about what was happening, the love and kindness that was being shown. The children’s task was to complete a mind map on ‘Who Needs Love?’

In History, we started a unit on the Ancient Egyptians; identifying the time period, identifying other civilizations alive at the same time and looking at the physical features of Egypt. We also began to look at their beliefs and to identify the Ancient Egyptian gods.
