Zakynthos Class – Week Wending 09.05.25

This week in Zakynthos…..

In English the children focused on writing a story from their plan about Hermelin’s nexrt adventure and this completed finishing this text. They then looked at the next book for the term called ‘Instrucciones’. We first talked about the four  different types of text (to inform, to entertain, to persuade, to discuss) and then we looked at a sentence type called ‘Commands’. The children were given pictures taken from a story that did not have any words and they had to write a command sentence for each picture. Another lesson was based on the children listening to the story ‘Instrucciones’ and they then had to use the image strip to write commands using preposition and using a different strip if images based on the book, to write a dialogue for the images.

In Maths, we finished the unit on Shapes with looking at and drawing different types polygons, recognising and describing  2D and 3D shapes.

In Science, we have started the new unit of ‘Sounds and Vibrations’.  The children had the opportunity to investigate different ways of sensing sound. There were six work stations placed  around the classroom with different equipment.  The children explored the equipment to help them see sound and discussed what they observed (hear, see, feel) at each station and were taught that sounds are caused by something vibrating.

What an amazing assembly! The children worked really hard to perform to the best of their ability and to learn their lines without having to read them. I am so proud of my children and I thank  you all for attending to your child’s class assembly.
