ZakynthosClass – Week Ending 06.06.25

Welcome back!

Firstly, I would like to apoologise for the late home learning task, I had to leave school by 5 pm on Friday.

In English, we began a poetry unit called ‘Kenning Poems’. The children really enjoyed learning about Kenning poems, as well as reading and performing such poems by Joseph Coelho. The children then had the opportunity to explore kenning poems and they created kennings to describe people, animals and objects. They finished the week with creating and publishing their own kenning poems.

In Maths, we finally finished Mass and Capacity. The children focused on comparing capacity and to add and subtract capacity. We then did a recap on Mass and Capacity.

In RE, we focused on the feast day celebration of Pentecost. The children, carefully observed the symbols and images in the icon and how they help us to understand the message of this feast in our lives today.

In Geography, we began our new topic, ‘Where do our food comes from?’ We talked about what a Biome was, why different foods are grown in different biomes and how we get different foods in our supermarkets if they’re not grown in the biome we live in.

I have included a spelling sheet as extra support.

List 25- Words with the suffix -er – Homework Sheet

For handwriting we follow the Nelson scheme, it supports correct formation of letters and helps to keep cursive writing neat and legible.

Have a wonderful week!
