Zaynthos Class – Week Ending 02.05.25

In Zakynthos this week……

In English, the children focused one lesson on writing a recount in role as ‘Hermelin the Detective Mouse’. They used a freeze frame, voiced the thoughts of the characters and then wrote a diary entry describing the start of the party, including feelings. They used their skills of story mapping to help them orally retell the story as a group and had the opportunity to become authors themselves by planning a new adventure for Hermelin and Emily his partner to solve more mysteries. This task will continue next week.

In Maths, the children continued with expanding and further developing their knowledge of ‘Shapes’.  We looked at horizontal and vertical lines, parallel and perpendicular lines, and recognising and describing 2-D shapes.

In History, the children continued with learning more about the Ancient Egyptians culture. We looked at what they believed in when they passed away, where they believed their soul would go to (the ‘afterlife’) and the burial procession that took placed. We also studied the pyramids, how, why and who they were built for.
