Easter

This week we have been:

This week was Easter week and we finished telling the Easter story. The children enjoyed telling me the Easter story while making the Easter mobiles. The children have really enjoyed acting out the Easter story using the props that we have in class.  The girls went to the hall to add flowers to the epitaphion. You will have noticed the children have taken home the Easter bags, this contains some of the things that we have been making to help us celebrate Easter. Here is some information about the red egg that was sent home. We encourage you not to eat it. [Red-eggs-info.pdf]  We also went to the Easter assembly and the children really enjoyed watching each day that we have been acting out in class. The children sat really well for such a long time and we are very very proud of them.

In maths this week we continued on learning on 3-D shapes. We use the topic of Easter to play an Easter 3-D shape game on the board. The children are really starting to understand the names of the 3D shapes and knowing whether they are solid or flat. We also used the shape train video to help us understand where you might use flat and solid shape.

This week we looked at the basic skills of cooking, tools that you need, ingredients that you need and the actions that we do when we are cooking. We have had fun in the water tray making our own porridge using spoons, bowls, porridge, and water.

In PE this week we went outside onto the Astroturf the children were exploring using balls. We were kicking, throwing and catching and scoring goals. The children really enjoyed doing PE outside and we will continue this when the weather gets better during the summer term.

After half term we will be:

  • Going back to our learning about animals, focusing on bears
  • Thinking about ty and teen in numbers.
  • Learning about the Good Samaritan.
  • Exploring ways of moving a ball.

Messages home

Just a reminder that the school closes for Easter on Tuesday 23rd April. The nursery children all finish at 11:50 on this day. There is no afternoon session.

We have sent your rhyme books home, please keep these at home now for the holidays and return them when we come back to school after the holiday. We will still change reading books on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd April.

You will be receiving a letter about ‘Tiger day’ on Tuesday the 14th of May. We would like the children to come to school dressed as a tiger for the day. We will be having a tea party and we would really like the children to be dressed up as a tiger or wearing orange and black for the day.

I hope you all have a lovely break. We will look forward to seeing you all back for the summer tern on Tuesday 7th May.

Please can you ensure that the children are wearing the correct uniform to school, this includes navy blue or black coat and black shoes.

Thank you for your support, Mrs Herne
