Traditional tales
This week we have been:
Reading the story ‘The three little pigs’. We have explored the story in many different ways, we have been retelling the story, we have been building houses for the pigs, we have been making our own houses and pigs for the creative display, we have been making pigs at the playdough table and we have had lots of fun retelling the story and using the story language. The children have really enjoyed watching this version of the story!

In math’s this week we have been thinking about ty and teen when we are saying the numbers. We have been looking at teen numbers and then we explored numbers from 10 to 100. When it has zero its ‘ty’ and when it has a 1 its ‘teen’. We have also been exploring making simple calculations using cubes, please watch this Numberblocks video at home with the children.

In RE this week we have been learning about God’s first family. We recapped over our learning about how God made the world. God also made Adam and Eve, Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden but they did not listen very well to God’s instructions. They ate from the tree of knowledge and God was not very happy. Adam and Eve thought they would make God happy by giving him the first family. Adam and Eve’s sons were called Kane and Abel, we painted pictures of Gods first family please come and have a look!
In science this week we have been learning about the life-cycle of a caterpillar. Mrs Herne ordered some caterpillars online and they came this week, we have been watching them grow and we are going to see what happens to them! We have learnt that a caterpillar comes from an egg and then it will turn into a cocoon and then it will transform into a butterfly the butterfly will then lay his egg and the cycle starts all over again. We have had lots of fun this week with the story ‘The very hungry Caterpillar’, we have been retelling the story and we have been busy making our own hungry caterpillars.
Next week we will be:
- Reading the stories ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ and ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’.
- Exploring size using Goldilocks and the three bears.
- Exploring hot and cold.
- Learning about how Jesus loves me.
Messages home
Although the weather may be getting warmer we would still like the children have a jacket when they are in school. We never know what the weather might do and we do use the outdoor area so it’s important we can go out there whatever the weather!
Phonics home learning – We would like the children to practice writing the sounds(s) that are on the sheet as well as colouring the pictures if your child’s sheet has any. Please return them to school so we can celebrate with the children.
Thank you for your ongoing support Mrs Herne, Mrs Cini and Mrs Woode
