Animals
This week we have been
Learning about a new topic animals. We read the story ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’, we use the dolly and the props to help us tell the story, we also watched a video online. We also read the book ‘Farmer duck’ and ‘The rainbow fish’ this week we also had lots of fun painting our own rainbow fish using bubble wrap and rainbow colours and writing about the rainbow fish. Our rhymes this week were ‘Baa baa Black sheep’ and ‘Mary had a Little Lamb’, we made our own sheep using cotton wall and paper plates.
In math’s this week we have been counting different objects and realising that anything can be counted. Some of us were counting to 5, some of us were counting to 10 and some of us were counting to 20. We have also been using the Numberblocks to learn the number 20.
In RE this week we have been learning about the Annunciation of Theotokos. We reviewed our learning from Christmas from where baby Jesus was born and we know that in March the angel went to Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby she then grew the baby in her tummy for nine months and baby Jesus was born on Christmas Day which is why we celebrate Christmas.
We continued and finished our science learning this week with making rainbows. We used water and shaving foam and added food colouring to watch a rainbow fall from the sky. We also made rainbow waves in bottles using oil and water we found out that water and oil do not mix and when they are together they separate.
Some of you will be celebrating Easter this weekend so we started some Easter celebrations ourselves. The children have been busy making Easter baskets and we made chocolate nests this week, you will also find the children have made chick Easter cards to help you celebrate Easter.
Next week we will be
- Continuing our animal topic by reading Handa’s surprise.
- Making shopping lists.
- Exploring counting using flowers and continuing to count lots of different objects.
- Exploring wild animals and where they live.
- Learning about God’s first family.
