Dinosaurs

This week we have been:

Learning about dinosaurs and what they get up to at night time! We read the book ‘Dinosaurs after dark’ and used the torches in the dark area to find nocturnal animals. We made shadows using dinosaurs and torches and we also used blindfolds in our PE session and guided each other around in the hall.

In phonics this week we have been learning the initial sounds of some of the letters, we focused on ‘a’ this week we used Alphablocks and Yakka Dee to help us.

In RE this week we have been learning about Mother’s Day. We have been singing songs and making special Mother’s Day cards. Mother’s Day is all about telling the girls and ladies in our lives that we love them and thank you for all they do for us.

In science this week we’ve been learning about light and dark using kit and pup. We also went to the hall for a science workshop, we had lots of fun involving fire, air  and gas!

This week reception received special eggs! We have been watching the eggs hatch into little chicks, we got to watch them and hold them!

Next week we will be:

  • Learning about eggs, we will be thinking about eggs in spring time and dinosaur eggs
  • Counting using eggs and thinking about the shape and size of eggs
  • starting our Easter celebrations by thinking about clean Monday and making special kites
  • Learning about spring time

On Wednesday, the 20th of March we will be going on a short trip to Crystal Palace Park to visit the dinosaurs. We would like to ask that the children have wellies in school for that day we will be back in time for lunch so nursery times are as normal

Thank you for your support, Mrs Herne,

Mrs Woode and Mrs Huter
