Easter and Animals
This week we have been:
Learning about Easter and why we celebrate Easter. We have started telling the Easter story one day at a time and we will continue the story next week.
We have also been reading We’re going on bear hunt, Barty’s scarf, Cows in the kitchen and There was an old lady who swallowed a fly. We have started looking at animals and where they live.
In phonics we have been learning the sounds t, i, n and p.
In maths we have been revisiting number and 2D shapes. We used the ‘Noah’s ark’ story to count in 2’s and used the number fish game finding the numbers to 10. We also started learning about 3D shape and talking about flat and solid shapes.
We have continued learning how to be safe when we are online and when we are by a road. We will continue going over this in the summer term.
- When we are online: Before you tap and click, you need to stop and think, and tell someone.
- When we are near a road: Stop, look and listen before you cross the road, buckle up (when you are in the car) and Hold hands.
In science we have really been focusing on Spring and the changes that they can see outside and the different types of weather we may have during spring time. We have also been exploring magnets and thinking about what they do. They attract/repel items can be magnetic/non-magnetic.
Next week we will be:
- Continue learning the Easter story.
- We will be reading a range of animal stories.
- Learning the sounds g, o, c, k and ck.
- Exploring thick and thin.
Messages home:
Although the weather is starting to get warmer please make sure that the children still have their coat when they come to school. It is very cold in our garden in the morning and the children will still need their coats.
When collecting the children in the afternoon please can you ensure you pick them up from the blue gate and not inside the playground, Thank you
Thank you for your on going support, Mrs Herne.
We hope you have had or will have a lovely Easter.
Mrs Lowe and Mrs Bruno.
