Inclusion Week – Our Families

This week we have been learning about:

Our families. We have been talking about who lives in our house and we made our own family pictures! We really enjoyed talking about who lives in our houses.

We have been learning about Diwali. We have watches the story of Rama and Sita and made our own Diva lamps which we took home. Please click the link to read the story at home.

We have been talking about being safe on the road. We looked at how to cross the road safely and how to be safe when we are walking down the street with our grown-ups. We learnt to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN when we cross the road, to hold our grownups hand when we are walking down the street and to be aware when we are playing in a familiar area. We used these videos to talk about what we should do to be safe.

We read ‘Pumpkin Soup’. This story was about a group of friends that did not listen to each other and they were all sad. We then saw how happy they were when they worked together. We looked at ways of being kind and things that make us sad. We also heard a story about the ‘Three little pigs’ and we discussed how mean the wolf is and what he could have done to be a better friend.

We have been learning about being proud of who we are. We looked at British athletes and what makes them special and proud to be British. Mrs Herne helped us to understand what we are doing that we should be proud of.

After half-term we will be learning about:

  • Re-capping over the ‘Three little pigs’ story and telling the story on our own.
  • Talking about Autumn.
  • Counting to 10 and ordering numbers to 10.
  • How God loves our families.
  • Making sounds using our bodies.
  • How to listen and not talk.
  • How to travel from place to place, hopping, skipping etc.

How you can help at home:

  • Explore the outside world and talk about autumn and changes they can see over the past few weeks.
  • Counting to 20, recognising numbers to 10 out of sequence.
  • Recognising and writing the children’s names.

Thank you very much for all the lovely Proud clouds, it’s great to see what the children have been learning at home and what you are proud of. Please keep these coming in, there is a basket outside for you to pick up more clouds. Please pin them to the board and we will celebrate them with the children.

8:40-8:50 Parent time. It was great seeing some of you this week coming in and taking part in an activity with your child. Please keep popping in the children really enjoy that time with you.

Reading books and Homework books will be handed out when we come back.

Once you have read your book with your child please put the story book and the yellow book in the yellow basket and we will change the book for you.

If you have shared some of the learning you have done at home in your homework book please put these in the green basket and we will share the work in class.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
