Week Ending – 22.09.23

Dear Parents, carers,

This weekend is Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and the children for English, looked at the biblical story of Jonah and the Whale.  The children role played the beginning of the story, they used adjectives to describe Jonah when he was in the belly of the whale and wrote a simple sentence telling Jonah what he should do.  In Maths, the children had to represent numbers as words, learnt how to count on from a given number and how to count one more and one less within 10.

In Science, we looked at the four seasons and the changes that takes place during each season. In PE, they are being taught the skills for cross country and hockey.  In RE, we focused on the Jewish special event of  Yom Kippur, why Jewish people celebrate it and how they celebrate it.  As we are approaching Black History month,  starting in October we talked about the importance of Black History month and why it is important to celebrate the achievements of black people who have made a difference and contributed to our society and others.  Lastly, In PSHE, our topic for this term is ‘Being Me in My World’ and this weeks lesson was all about ‘Rights and Responsibilities’ in the classroom.
