Week Ending – 30.06.23

Dear Parents, Carers,

This week in English, the children were introduced to ‘modal’verbs’, such as will, should, could and might. They first had to choose a modal word of their choice and then put it into a sentence.  Then we looked at persuasive language, continued with using modal verbs and then focused on how we can persuade people to save our tigers.  For grammar, the children looked at the suffix ‘less’, adding it to some root words and then wrote a sentence with the new word, for  example use – useless, home – homeless.

In Maths, the children continued with time, ‘o’clock and half past’ for the first half of the week.  Then we started a new unit ‘Division’, the children worked in pairs where they had to take a number make that amount using either cubes or counters and then share it among 4 plates.  In RE, the children looked at the feast of St Paul and St Peter and had to sequence the story of Joshua and the Walls of Jericho.

In Topic, the children focused on writing facts about tigers for their persuasive writing and in PSHE, the children looked at how medicine can help us, when to take them, who gives them to us and what happens when we take too many too soon.
