There has been some fantastic learning in history, where the children learnt about Mary Seacole and the Crimean war.

This week has been a very busy week, we have been enjoying our history learning about Norman castles.
We have worked very hard to create detailed instructions and have been focusing on using imperative verbs (verbs that give a command).
We have come to the end of our unit on fractions and the children have enjoyed really challenging themselves to find fractions of different numbers.
In art we are continuing our learning about clay we have developed lots of different skills for how to join and smooth the clay and have designed our own castles which we will be creating next week.
Hello all,
This week has been a positive week in terms of the children’s learning. They have worked hard on understanding the fundamentals of fractions and are beginning to have a good understanding.
In English the children have been learning to write detailed instructions and are beginning to understand the importance of giving clear instructions.
We had a very interesting history lesson discussing the coronation of William the conqueror and how he became king. We looked at the Bayeux tapestry and how this depicts the whole story of the battle of Hastings.
This weeks home learning is below- please note that there are extra spellings this week which I would like you to copy into your pink home learning books. We will be using these throughout our English lessons next week so it is important that we can spell them correctly.
Enjoy your weekend

This week we have begun our learning around Holy week and have discussed the stories of Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday, as well as learning the parables of the ten maidens and the cursing of the fig tree. The children have worked to not only learn these stories but to also understand the meaning behind them. This week we have also practised for our Easter Assembly and done some Easter baking.
I am looking forward to spending the next week finishing up our learning topics and having lots of Easter fun with you all.

Hello all,
This has been a very busy week for Crete class, we worked hard on our final piece of writing, to create a ‘Walking Guide’ For people who would like to come and tour London. The children are making some really good progress in their handwriting and we are trying hard to focus on the spelling of our words.
In Maths, we have finished our unit on Mass, Capacity and temperature and our end of block assessments show that most children now have a strong understanding of these concepts and how to use them to answer questions.
Last week we done some amazing experiments in science and it has been fantastic to hear the children talking about what they learnt from them and working hard to record what they discovered in their books- they have also been working very hard to remember some challenging scientific vocabulary e.g Density and Viscosity.
We also went on our school trip to The London Eye. We were very lucky, the sun was shining and we had a brilliant day. The children really enjoyed looking out over London and spotting Landmarks that we had been learning about in class. They also got to play in a park just below the London eye.
We are looking forward to our last couple of weeks together before the Easter Holidays, learning about Holy week and preparing for our Easter Celebrations.
Miss Hopper
This week we have had a good week with our learning.
In English we are enjoying our new book for this topic ‘A walk in London.’ Children have been learning about persuasive writing and have begun to create posters which will persuade people to come to London. We are also enjoying our class reading for pleasure book ‘James and the giant peach,’ which we have left on a bit of a cliff-hanger.
Thank you to all of those children (and parents) who made an effort for world book day the children enjoyed dressing up and sharing stories with some of you in the Morning.
In maths we have been learning about Mass and weight. We spent our first lesson looking at different weighing scales and how they work. We even managed to find an old Victorian set of scales and weights.
This week we also, flew our kites on Clean Monday. We are looking forward to science week next week!
