This week the children have been writing their letters detailing Katie’s adventure in English.
In Maths, the children have been learning about doubles and subtracting.
In Science, the children were testing how tough materials are.

This week we have started working on addition and subtraction within 20 and learning our number bonds to 20 as well.
In English, we have some very special letter from the lion and wrote our replies back.

Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have come to the end of our unit for Place Value, and we will be moving on to addition and subtraction within 20. The home learning that has been set on EdShed is a bit of pre learning for the children so that they can be prepared for the new topic next week.
This week in English, we have been focusing on writing in chronological order through writing recounts from the point of view of a character in our story.
In Science, the children used their knowledge of materials to design a toy based on the properties that the material has.

This week, we have continued to focus on numbers to 20 in Maths.
In English, we looked at past tense verbs and writing in the first person.
In Science we looked at the different materials used to make everyday objects.

What is busy first week back!
In Maths, the children have been learning about their numbers to 20 and the composition of the numbers from 11-16.
In English, we have introduced our new story ‘Katie in London’ and revisited our learning on adjectives.
In Science, we learned about different materials that are used to make objects.
And in Art the children were learning about mixing primary colours to make secondary colours.

We have have an extremely busy week this week doing assessments in all areas of the curriculum.
Therefore, we have decided that there will be no home learning so that the children can get some well earned rest!

The first week of December has flown by!
In Maths, we have been looking at the composition of odd and even numbers, as well as beginning to skip count in 2s.
In English, we have been writing our fact file about Dame Ellen MacArthur ahead of editing and writing our final versions.
In History, the children learned about Mae Jemison and how she was historically significant.
In Science, the children learned about the different animals that we keep as pets.

Hello Parents and Carers,
This week has been full of excitement!
We had our trip to the Science Museum on Tuesday, and I would just like to say another big thank you to the family helpers that we had with us. Your support means the world and these trips would not be able to happen without you. The children had a wonderful time and it was a fantastic experience for them.
For the remainder of the week, we were finishing up our unit of Maths, looking at 3D shapes and making patterns with shape.
In English, we have been compiling facts about Dame Ellen MacArthur and her voyage around the world in preparation for writing a fact file.
The children have also been learning about the different diets of animals in Science, and how to identify an animal as a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore.
