Welcome to Year 6
As you get ready to sit your SATs, we wanted to take a moment to remind you of something very important — how truly brilliant you are.
These tests are just one small way to show some of what you’ve learned, but they can never measure all the amazing things that make you you. They don’t measure your kindness, your creativity, your sense of humour, your imagination, or the way you brighten someone’s day with a smile or a helping hand. They don’t show how hard you’ve worked, how much you’ve grown, or how brave you’ve been in facing challenges.
We are already so proud of everything you have achieved this year and everything you are becoming. Your determination, resilience and curiosity are what really matter — and those are things no test can ever capture.
So, as you sit down to do your best next week, remember that your best is always enough. We believe in you, we’re cheering for you, and we’re so excited to see all the incredible things your future holds.
Good luck — but more importantly, be proud of yourself and all that you’ve accomplished so far. You are already a success in so many ways.
With all our best wishes and lots of pride,
Mrs Clarke-Benson & Miss Moloney
With next week being our last week before SATS, we would appreciate the children taking time to go over any areas they are still unsure on.
This can be in maths, reading or SPAG.
Please remember we still have a week to cover any areas of uncertainty and next week we will be optimising this.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Miss Moloney & Mrs Clarke-Benson
This week was the start of Holy week celebrations. Each day we looked at a different event that occurred on the route to Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrections, discuss what we can learn from this and completing activities to show our understanding. Additional to this it was also assessment week, completing assessments in both English and Maths.
With only 6 weeks remaining until SATS, that is where our main focus will be. Instead of our normal Home learning, below is a link to some SATS based questions. We would like the children to practice these questions under timed conditions. They are free to pick areas they may feel they need to develop individually e.g. fractions and ratios or inference style questions, or complete a whole paper. Using this time to practice further will only benefit their results.

We have had a great week! All children took part in a mock SATs week and there has been such improvement in all areas. The children should have taken them home so it would be great if they could look over areas that they are not yet confident on.
In Science, we continued our learning on the importance of oceans and have started to prepare for our enquiry into pollution and its impact.
All children a letter regarding Easter boosters, please can this be returned as soon as possible.

In English, we looked at letters of complaint. Completing our big write on a letter of complaint to the cinema for poor service.
In maths, we focused on graphs, looking at line graphs, dual bar charts and pie charts.
With this week being science week we were able to complete the ‘Egg challenge’. Working in groups to create the perfect contraptions, to protect our eggs when dropping from a height. This combined with our silly science workshop, made for a thrilling week.

We have had a very busy week!
All the children tried very hard during our mock SATs week and there has been some great improvements! We were very proud and hope you are too!
However, there is still lots to do before the actual SATs in May. All children have their papers from the week. For their homelearning, please make sure to go through them with the children and see what they still need extra practice on.
Have a lovely half-term!
