Summer projects for year 3

Good morning (soon to be) Year 4s,

Over the summer holiday, myself and Mr Skinner would like you to research your new classes that you will be in next year.

Just a quick reminder, if your were in Spetses you will be in Ithaca; if you were in Zakynthos, you will now be in Symi.

You can find this week’s daily learning activities below.

In Numeracy you will practise generating multiplication and division facts from known tables facts. Multiply by 4 (doubling twice) and by 10 to ‘scale up’ recipes. Divide by 4 (halving twice) and by 10 to make scale drawings. Investigate totals within rectangles drawn on calendars.And knowledge of inverse operations is used to solve puzzles.

In Literacy you will be listening to a reading a classic Greek myth, Icarus; make responses to the text; sequence and retell the story orally. Re-read a Greek myth to develop familiarity with its themes and characters; compare two versions of a story; write a fictional diary entry. Begin reading a more demanding version of a Greek myth; read and note the key features of instructions; write a set of instructions. Finish reading a more demanding version of a Greek myth; offer opinions about different versions of a Greek myth. Read a classic poem, ‘Hope is the thing with feathers’; answer questions about the poem; write in response to the themes and ideas of the poem.
