Welcome to Nursery

Happy New Year!!

Welcome back to everyone.

We hope you had a great Christmas holidays.

This week, we have been talking about Christmas and how we spent our holidays.

We celebrated Epiphany, children have learnt about Saint Basil the Great and made a Vasilopita, which is a New Year’s Day bread, cake or pie in Greece. The cake contains a hidden coin or trinket which gives good luck to the receiver. So careful when your children eat the cake at home!!

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Lowe & Mrs Bruno.

Stick Man and the different emotions!

Good afternoon parents and carers,

This is the last week that we are exploring Stick Man. The children talked about how Stick Man might be feeling, so far from his family and the family tree.

The children shared how they feel when they come to school and have to say goodbye to their loved ones. They created their own emotion jars where they either painted, coloured or used tissue paper to show the emotion that they feel. We related this to our PSHE lesson and the zones of regulations.

Our focus number in maths was the number 8. The children got to practice number formation and we looked at the connecting cubes and Numicons. They also enjoyed learning about 2D shapes.

During R.E this week, we finished the creation story and what God created on day 5 & 6, (sky, land, sea animals and Adam and Eve). God rested on day 7.

We have been extremely busy rehearsing for our Nativity. Please can you continue to practice your children’s lines with them.

Next week will be enjoying Christmas and learning about the true meaning of this celebration, linking it to our nativity.

Have a good weekend.

Mrs Lowe & Mrs Bruno.

Stick Man and the four seasons!

Dear parents and carers, we hope you have had a good week.

The children have enjoyed looking at the different seasons Stick Man passed until he was reunited with his family. We have explored what each season looks and feels like. We spoke about what type of clothes we might wear for each season. The children all got to make their own seasonal painting.

During maths this week, we have revisited numbers 1 to 5. We looked at connecting blocks and numicons to help us. The children practiced number formation for all numbers.

During R.E we are continuing the creation story and we learnt about day 3 and 4, where God created the land, stars and the moon.

Thank you for your continued support, kind regards!

Mrs Bruno & Mrs Lowe

P.S a message was sent asking you to bring in raincoats and wellington boots, just to clarify as I think there was a little confusion. We would like a waterproof coat for when the children are outside playing in the mud area which we will shortly be turning into a mud kitchen.

Stick Man!

Dear parents and carers, we hope you are all keeping well.

This week we have been reading the story ‘Stick Man’ and the children have enjoyed making their own Stick Man out of recyclable materials.

We compared ‘Stick Man’ with ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, how they both got lost and we created wanted posters where the children drew a picture of Stick Man and then described him.

In Maths this week, we looked at number seven and its formation. The children enjoyed measuring different size sticks using the connecting blocks. They were able to identify which one was the tallest and which the shortest.

The children have been busy practicing for our nativity play, and we have sent home lines for you to practice with your children. See below the songs.
