Year 2 Week Ending 8.6.18

Welcome to Year 2!

We hope you have had a restful and enjoyable half term.

This week in Year 2

In our Literacy lessons we have been exploring the Trojan Horse. We have been creating expanded noun phrases for the Trojan Horse in our playground as well as writing instructions on how to play on it safely. We have also begun to explore the legend of the Trojan Horse and used this to write our own arguments for and against it.

In Numeracy we have been focusing on weight. We have identified that we measure weight in grams and kilograms and know that 1kg is the same as 1000 grams. We have been using scales to estimate and weigh different objects. We then put these objects in order from heaviest to lightest before comparing them using more than (>) and less than (<). Towards the end of the week we were solving word problems that involved weight.

In R.E. this week, we have learnt about how Jesus came to Earth for all people and why we are all special.

In topic this week we begun learning about our new topic ‘Ancient Greece’. We have learnt about when the Ancient Greece period was and placed it on a timeline with different events.

We have also begun learning about our new science topic ‘ How will 5 a day help me to be healthy?’ which focuses on Animals including Humans. We have explored how baby animals grow into adult animals, creating life cycles describing their changes.
